Just a quick question guys. We got an EL XR8 at work and i cant tell if its the 185kw model?? How do i tell it appart from the one before?? and how much power did the pre 185kw XR8's have?

We also have an ex chaser EL GLi V8 and after driving both this XR8 would pi** all over it. I know the GLi is 165kw. Both are auto.

What do u guys recon a 97 XR8 with 16's and no kits is worth?? Auto, white, 130kms, very good condition.

Check the tag on the diff, 3.45 for 185kw models. 3.27 for the 165/175 models.

I am sure someone like Mr Sparkles will be able to tell you the dates to check for to see if it is a EL2 or not.

Also... the manifolds looked different. (I think ?)

late 97s are 185kw,just like AUI. IT ROCKSSSS!do not be scared,find a nice 5.7 holden auto,and you will have a biiig smile on your face(make sure it's an auto though:bs2:)

The maf meter is not smaller in the middle.
The inlet is stagered as a Cobra / Explorer.

Check the build date - Oct 97 onwards were series 2 185kW. The upper intake manifold is different too, the plenum chamber is bigger with a squarer look, and the runners are bigger and slightly longer than on the previous model.

They are a great thing indeed. For that one you mentioned, a white auto with 130,000km, probably around the $20,000 mark going on current prices.

i have a 98 el2 185kw. it has 45000k's on it in mint cond. What do you think it's value is?

Mine is an auto and off the line their nothing special.
Onec their up around th 2500 to 3000 they start to move but they run out of puf around 4600. No need to take them to redline as it doesn't do much other that make a lot of noise(abit harsh). I am not sure wha cyl heads are on this model.

Are they any good?

I had the chance to sit in a new te50 a couple of weeks ago and even thou the engine had no kays on it, it reved hard and fast like a honda s2000.
Got back onto mine and was depressed:bwhaaaaaa

But i own this one so thats a bonus :s3

AUI xr8 with 185kw and 412 nm/3500???is that the engine you mean??
It's the best car in the world,I have a huge list of kills if you want to know how fast this xr8 can go.
btw,, I raced a s2000 in my 92 v6 3l,I used to think it's the fastest car in the world before I managed to tease her driver,behind my tail till 80kh,then opens up,a bit.
