Re: 200 mpg Carburettor????
Funny...I was just reading about a patent from the 70s for a vapor engine- the patent is available on the USPTO website- and the guy in the mid/late 70's officially logged 109 MPG in a 71 LTD 351 over a documented 2-300 mile trip...he basically removed the carburetor, ran tubing to a fuel tank that wouldnt collapse from the vacuum, and the throttle was basically a butterfly int the tank...had heatercores to keep tank from icing other stuff, but that was basically it. Scary part would be a backfire...KABOOM...Ive been thinking about this thing ever since...he suposedly had gotten up to 200mpg with it but the documented run was only 109. I guess engine has to deal with extremely lean mixtures to say the least, but still...over 100mpg with a stock v8 in a 2 ton car...does that mean 1000mpg in a friggin yugo?
If I get on the other computer later I'll find the link- saved in favorites on other comp...cant remember the guys name or I'd just look it up- very very interesting stuff...
