Latest edition of mellor.net's e-news reports that Geoff Polites favours rear wheel drive for the falcon range. But that said that is his personal opinion and Ford are doing market research now and results of this will sway the decsion.

Also says that woul be a large investment to go Front Wheel drive.

Hopefully not! If the dark side stays RWD whilst the Falcon goes FWD then to me the dark side won't be the dark side anymore.

I doesn't take an Einstien to see that large FWD cars do not sell well in Australia.

The Magna is the perfect example. I think it looks great aggresive but practical with a hint if BMW'ish applied.

BUT it is FWD and Misubishi is threating to leave Australia.


If the Falcon goes FWD = nice knowing you Ford Aust...

Holden seem to be the first to do every thing wait until they stuff up.

It all depends who the "research" is based on. If they were examining the demograph of gibbering monkeys with mental disease, then perhaps the FWD would be feasible.

Consequently, if FWD does eventuate, then this will only prove that those in power at Ford (bar Geoff + HJ) are, in fact, gibbering monkeys with mental disease. In this case, my money and loyalties will go elsewhere.

So if they go for FWD what will happen to V8 Supercar racing?

Will they just give up on it, or go the NASCAR route with fully fabricated race cars, with a token body shell dropped over the top...

If both brands go FWD then there will be no new cars on the market here suitable for real men!!

I can't see it happening for some time yet...

If Ford went the route of FWD I can tell you I would not be going over to Holden.
