TE50 1

G'Day,

I have recently purchased a new Ford Courier V6 5 speed auto rear wheel drive here in Australia.

As yet no one here has any performance mods for them and I am looking for some extra ponies.

I have been searching the net and believe that the Courier (which is manufactured in South Africa) is in fact the same vehicle as your Ranger, is this so???. Also does the new Explorer Sporttrac run the same V6.

If any of this is true can anyone advise me on the following

1. What has anyone done in regards to performance mods on these vehicles

2. Where can I source them?

3. Are there any bodkits, stylesides etc for the Ranger/Courier.

4. Any other mods that any one can reccomend

Last I remember theyare a close cousin.

Which V6 do you have?

The sporttrac runs the 4.0L V6 which rates at 210HP.

Most mods can be had on there if they are the same 4.0l v6. Intake, exhaust, headers, suspension...you name it.

Jegs, summit come to mind.

There are a few for the rangers. Not sure about the courier.

Intake, exhaust, chip, headers....damn where to stop.

Thanks for that Lunatic, the courier lists 157kW for the V6 so is pretty close to 210HP.

I'll start looking around for the websites.

From what I see it looks very similar to the ranger. I am sure that there is a ranger body kit out there. I have seen a few in Houston when I was there. Most of the guys that I know who own rangers have dropped a 5.0 in it to scrap the 6 as they were not very performance oriented.

Yeah Thanks again Lunatic. I had a look at the link and Ford US website, they are very very close on external sheetmetal, I think that because your SUV market is bigger than out here there has been a little bit more sports orientated in the look department. I would really like to get a hold of front bar with foglights as it is not available here and the front of mine deifinately needs it.

I'm reasonably happy with performance but fair to say its a long way off my last vehicle BA XR8 DJR 320 by Herrods, but then again its not why I changed.

I have spoke to Rob Herrod and we may have a look at exhaust and intake from whats available here I'm not sure though, if off the shelf stuff has already been proven inthe states then that's probably a better option, a 5.0 litre would be fantastic but I'm sure costly and time consuming????
