Read 220kw motor quick question

just saw this http://www.autospeed.com/A_1194/page1.html , might have been posted before, seems a little old, but a quick query i have, is that the 220kw motor, they say is putting 136kw to the wheels. Does this seem acurate ??

It looks as though it might be an AUI but I'm not sure. If it is, then it only had 200 kw. Which makes the figures more accurate : 136/200= ~70% which means 30% drivetrain loss which is generally accurate.
Don't ever take Julian Edgar's articles seriously as he has some sort of chip on his shoulder with Fords. He's likely to screw the truth around so much that it seems ford was sent to earth by the devil.
Again I'm not sure on the AUI thing, because the T1-T2 models look so much the same.
Also remember that Ford claimed 220 on premium, but they were using regular.

What a dickhead.

I can tell him exactly how many degrees of timing is pulled by the knock sensor......NONE.....the Windsor V8's don't have one, and never have.

That is why you MUST only run Premium fuel, there is no sensor to pull timing back if you want to run lower grade fuel. It even says Premium only on the back of the fuel filler flap for the terminally stupid.

What sort of idiot gets an ECU chip burnt on a car using the WRONG GRADE FUEL!! What a complete waste of time. No wonder the poor chip tuner was having problems with detonation.

I don't know what is funnier, the fact that this idiot is so stupid or that he put the story up on his web site for all to see exactly how stupid he is.

Thought it was time to try a turbo for a change :)

Don't believe a word Edgar saying. He mentioned once about how quick the soarer or lexus sc400 , that old coupe dumb looking car, and how powerful it is,(I think about 189 or 179KW??). And quoted mid-low seven 0-100 for a used car testdrive. I thought it was as fast as the XR8!
The other thing is the Supra 3litre non turbo, 160KW, he said it's as fast as 7.5-8 seconds.

I testdrive both of them. And I can assure you the supra is slower than my 92 mitsubishi(well almost:), and the V8 lexus is a NOTHING absolutely NOTHING, compared to the XR8, hell a forte taxi will kick its ass!

If you like ricer, Edgar is the guy. Ford stuff, just don't worry about anything he says:)

Ok, i know dyno figures vary but as a guide i'd have to disagree that a 220kw does 136kw at the wheels. Wheels done a dyno run of the TE-50 Series 1 200kw auto and made 144kw at the wheels.

Another point to remember is the Windsors really starts to show their potential after 20k on the clock.
