285kw HSV VY2

yup thats right...... HSV VY series 2 cars will boast 285KW stock in an attempt to brdige the gap to GT and to move away for the ever closer 245KW SS.

This represents a 25KW jump over the current VY version. It is unclear if the GTS engine will also provide a jump in KW.

Ford will always go one better from now on.

No more catch up here. Let Holden do the chasing for a change.

Re: 285kw HSV VY2

Ford had better stop the chasing and go from being second best to the top!

Re: 285kw HSV VY2

man, thats scary.
the HSV's/SS already had the straight line speed advantage (but thats about all) an extra 25kw is a fair jump.
wonder what'll happen with BAII :)

Well it seems that Holden are doing what they always have done.

They know that they have an inferior product, so they compensate
by trying to make it the most powerfull. Well, it's worked for them in the past, and I'm sure it will work again. Boy, they sure don't like having less power than Ford.

Now BAII will need to lift outputs by the same amount to stop AUI vs VTII type scenario happening again.

Anyone care to speculate as to what BAII power figures will be, here is my list:

XT 6 - 182kW (No need for more)
XT V8 - 230kW (To come closer to SV8)
Failane V8 - 235kW (To match statesman)
XR6 N/A - 195kW (Just put a different exhaust etc. than XT)
XR6T - 240kW (No increase needed here)
XR8 - 275kW (It already needed this, but now even more so)
GT - 305kW (Lovely)
GTHO - ???kW (enough to beat the GT by half a second)

The only problem with these "ideal" figures would be 8 different outputs, which could reduce economies of sacale.

Interesting times ahead !

I'd rather they shed some kilo's, than be worrying about power outputs.

power war- holden have upped the ante to compete on paper with ford. just like in the 70s before the supercar scare. holden have never let anything like this go by without a response..

40 grand for 15kw? well 60 large will land your bum in a 285kw clubbie.. yet 40 grand more for a 300kw GTS.. they're gonna want to upgrade that '300' badge soon.
