Ugh! I don't want to see that thing come over till it's gone on a diet. Bring on an all aluminium 4 valve version and then you've got me.

In the meantime I'll keep singing the praises of the 5.0. Unless anyone would care to send over the Fedex man with a worked 392w in a crate.

Yeah just wondering theres always this worry at the back of my mind, that the 5.4L might not have the muscle to match Gen III, what does everyone think. Whats everyone heard, i mean the Cobra R mustang has got 300kw out of it, can we get more power than that ie, 350kw+.

I don't think we'll have to worry about that. I don't think we'll see power upto 350kw. Maybe from CSV, HSV, Herrod. But there's no way Ford or Holden will be pushing that sort of power in the next model lineip.

As JEM says 350kW certainly wont be in the standard model lineup.

That said the Cobra R was their 1st serious NA 5.4 effort so there'll be some room for development. Just look at the trick magnesium inlet with dual MAFs that the FR500 runs. That baby was advertised as having 300kW on paper.

I was reading in a American sports car mag that the Ford Corbra R SVT version from their 4.6L was producing 385hp, know that is out of an engine that has been pretty well worked over and still comes under the 300kW mark. They will need to be doing something speacial with the 5.4 to get that. But I reckon as long as you can get 200kW at the rear wheels will keep me happy.

Marcus, the 385Hp rating is hugely underrated.
Motor Trend dynoed a Cobra R and got 376.1Hp and 385.9Tq at the WHEELS :eek::eek: There dynos have about 12.5-15% drivetrain loss for manuals, so its really got around 430Hp or so.
