that is largely irrelevant to us because the 5.4 we get is different to the US version.

How can you say (that it is irrelevent to us and it is different to what we get)?
I don't think they use the 5.4s in cars in the states but I do believe they are used in Lincoln Blackwoods & Navigators (DOHC), the Expedition Eddie Bauer (SOHC) and the F-150 SVT Lightening.

He can say that because the 5.4L that we will be getting will be different to the 5.4L that the US are using now. It will be the same block etc. but tuned Aussie style.

Hmmm Truck engine?? Where has the 5Ltr engine been sourced from ??? The Explorer!!

I guess there engines will give you an idea.Especially if you listed "all" of them, from Hi-po to Low-po...& weight of the vehicle...New or upgraded[re engineered] engines are coming out there too soon!!

Cobra R uses a 5.4l DOHC engine.

But the guys are right. Read the latest Australian Muscle car, and the interview with Uncle Geoff. Ford Australia is not going to pull a Holden/HSV, and just dump freshly unwrapped engines into the cars. Whatever configuration we get, they will be Aussie-ised.

I am sure the LS1 is used in trucks but that doesn't make it a truck engine, but also you have to remember that a large majority of sales in the US are trucks that have V8's so of course they would feed into others.
The 4.6 in the Mustang is also used in the Explorer.

The Viper V10 engine is a truck engine and I don't hear many complaints about it

We are not using the same block as the US we're getting an all-alloy 5.4 whereas the US version has a cast-iron block!
