Report in the new Wheels magazine says Ford in USA is changing the 5.4 V8 engine in the F150 to 6.2L and it is likely that the Falcon will share this advantage....
hmmm well here is my speculation: 2it is an increase of bore size only
2. Therefore the engine will be squarer
3. Rev harder
Those power figures look about what would be needed to get a BA up and moving, the heavy suckers that they are. I wouldn't hold my breath though a post like this comes up about once a week. If only ford would listen to what the xr8 & GT buyers want. MORE FLIPPING POWER AND TORQUE
Power outputs were not mentioned but it seems very likely that we will get this engine sometime in 2006, about the time for many current BA owners to upgrade!
from what it sounds like Ford AUstralia wont have a choice, as Ford US will stop making a 5.4 and only have a 6.2 to replace it :-) They speculate that it will happen by 2006 (which means late 05 in USA)

Bah i'll be looking to upgrade at the end of this year and I'm a BA owner!

45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...
I drive, I vote and I'll go out of my way to see you out of government Mr Bracks. You lied your way into power and you lie to keep it. Enough lies!!! You're out of here!
Just because it has a bigger bore with the same stroke, doesnt meant its going to rev harder.... Its still about piston velocity, nothing else. You could have a 10 inch bore in with a similar stroke, it still will not rev any harder. Its about stroke length and piston speed. Not how square it is (though when the stroke length is right, then and only then does it come into play, but if your already pushing stupid piston speeds, there is no room for an increase).
I heard the block was being redeveloped, not just bored out.
I also heard it was going to be brand new, who do you believe?
I bet I know what'll happen. They close the line in the US and ship the 5.4l moulds over here so we start making the whole lot ourselves.
The profits that Ford Oz have been making could auger well for such a manufacturing transplant for an already well tested engine format that Ford Oz slapped together.
