Question 6 Different Power Plants for Barra

I heard from a reliable source (Everyone wanted to be in photos with him) That there are 6 Variants to the Barra engines.

What they are, the configuration etc could not find out.

My guess is the following -

DOHC 6 -

1, Natural Aspirated 180KW
2, Std Turbo 220KW (Forte to Fairmont)
3, Tickford Twin Turbo 240KW (Twin turbo with intercooler)

5.4 V8 -

1, 225KW SOHC V8 (Forte - Fairmont)
2, 260KW DOHC V8 (Tickford models only)
3, 300+KW DOHC (GT & GTHO Models)

Lets kick this around. (Maybe all turbo models get intercooler though)

It might be 6 different power levels but I doubt that.

wow, six models!! thats heaps, If i was to guess (and this is a total guess):

6 Cylinder:

Standard: around 170kw (falcon-faimont)
tickford XR6: around 185kw (XR6)
Turbo: around 200 (detuned) capable of much more (option)

V8

standard: around 225kw (falcon-fairmont)
tickford XR8: around 260 (XR8)
T-series: 280-300kw

what does that leave for the GTHO though??! maybe a special edition?? 325+??!

just a thought...

I'm sick of these guessing games from reliable sources. I'm just gonna refer to the Ford web site and when they say something then I'll know.
I worked at walkers Aust and some of you may have read my post on performance forums about the whole engine thing.
To be totally honest I think very few people really know whats going on. The power out puts I listed there were from the engineers mouths but that doesn't mean it will be Fords real power out put as they may go and detune it or some other parts manufacture may not gaurenttee there parts to that power out put.
I just can't take all the second guessing anymore.
If you want to see what second guessing can do read the post for the Prodrive/tickford debate.

These are probably both right - 4 basic engines and 2 additional variants.

I6 NA (possibly two output levels - one for stock and one for base XR6)
I6 T
SOHC V8 (also possibly 2 output levels - one for stock and one for XR)
DOHC V8

Total = 6

Cheers

All that I know (for a fact) is:

6 CYL: DOHC 24V 4.0L VCT in petrol and gas.. thats 2
6 CYL: DOHC 24V 4.0L VCT TURBO thats 3.
and the new 5.4L V8 that makes the 4th new engine....
