97 falcon stolen

whats going on with these late model falcons getting stolen ,I was under the impression smart lock has to be given the correct codes in the correct order or the system will shut down,I have a standard smartlock immobiliser in my wagon is this enough .

Should I install something upmarket or am i wasting my dough

Thanks

having an alarm is always a bonus

if people want your car they will take it regardless, more mods it has more chance it'll got nicked!

I also thought they couldn't be stolen.

But I went to jury duty last year. Two of them stole about 20 EFs and ELs in the space of a few months. It took the court person forever to read out all the cars stolen, where they were stolen, etc. I was really surprised.

But then I saw Gone in 60 Seconds....

i beleive an Alarm is a false sense of security. I cant remember the countless times alarms have gone of for now reason, and looked around to see absolutely no-one take intrest in why the alarm has gone off, dismissing it as "another faulty alarm".

I reckon a more advanced immobiliser would be a better cause, making life a lot harder for the criminal to get the car away.

Just get an upgrade to your smartlock, they are alot cheaper and you get a discount on your insurance....

Mind you, that doesnt stop someone that wants to steal your car, all it does is slows them down! unless you install one of those paging device thingy's, so when a vibration is sensed, it will page you (with a limited range of course) and then you can go after them with a baseball bat :)

There's a few cars at my work's carpark that I've learned not to park next to as I know if I start my car while they're in the vicinity, the alarm is triggered.

I also was under the impression that smart lock hadn't been cracked. I had an alarm on my EF that I ended up disabling because it would go off for no reason at 3am in the morning.

I also had an XWGT that had a real simple setup of immobilisers, 3 in fact, that shorted the coil, fuel pump and starter motor positioned with switches all around the car. Kept it in an underground carpark. Obviously it was observed while fanging it and putting her away one time as I came to visit her one morning to find that the bonnet was up and a 2nd battery put in place as they've possibly flattened the battery trying to crank her over.

Had 4 cars stolen, but all recovered.. 3 cars attempted but not stolen but significant damage.. so I'm sure I'm qualified to be able to state... 'DEATH TO CAR THIEVES'

haha, I have a very good modification to my fairlane, its a padlock that bolts around the bottom of the selector and jams it in park and the bar that it connects onto is bolted into the chassis of the car. I should take a pic of it, but theres no way in hell u could hack saw it off because theres no room, and there is no room to get bolt cutters in to take them off, so yep!

Rotor button in your pocket is always a good one too...
They might be able to tow it away, but they won't start it without some serious troubleshooting!!
