I have a '98 AU Forte V8 lined up. It has only 67000 km's on it. It is totally stock with the original fan grill that I despise. So I was thinking of either replacing it with a Futura grill (ahh thats better) or painting it same as body colour. Also as I have also posted beforehand I would probably want to buy some XR 5 spoke mags and bodykit (front and rear) at least to hide the rear mechanicals a bit better. (basically as they did in the AUII upgrade)
So the AU wasn't that bad a car was it? I can get the car for around $12000, so I thought that was reasonable from a dealer and since I want a V8 and low km's there aren't too many options out there for this money.
Any inherent problems I should watch for?
I owned an EAII 30th Anniversary and an EFII and the EA was a better car I thought. The EFII was rough and more went wrong with it, although obviously it had more power, but more electrical problems.
I would appreciate all of your comments on this vehicle.
Sounds good. A V8 Forte would be a rare beast to come across. Definitely go the XR kit, up to you whether you prefer series 1 or 2, or what you can find.
Instead of painting the front grill, try the SVO grill. It is very similar to the old mailbox opening grill. Just has a centre piece in the middle, and looks very sporty

Yeah i dont want to think about that because chuck on another 4500 and that what i paid for my AU around a year ago. But i must say i did get a really good trade in price on my EB.
How much did the grill cost mate? Looks great, the car in question is galaxy blue too. So after my mods it would look similar. I just looked at www.ssv.com.au and basically for an AU XR front & rear skirt and rear wing would cost around $800 all up.
