While the BA Falcon didnt win the overall award (VW Passat) it did pick up the following

Best Large Car - BA Falcon
Best Performance Car - BA Falcon XR6T

that's to be expected! i think that in some regards, kiwis are so imprinted with HOLDEN on their foreheads.....much more than most Aussies are. It's quite amazing....

If you'd said that 10 years ago I would have disagreed with you, as I think Kiwi's have always favoured Fords mainly due to our British connections.
However this is not the case now, there is definately an abundance of Holden loving freaks in NZ.

Yeah, fortunately Ford are the much more popular car where I am, with AU's and BA's totally outnumbering their Holden counterparts. The publics attitude towards Fords in this part of the country seems much more favourable too, from experience anyway. New Zelanders also don't seem to have such a problem with the AU shape either.

It also helps that our local dealer is one of the best and biggest in the country, an FPV dealer, and sells more V8 Falcons than any other.

It was a tie, there were two drivers with two different preferances - one for car that can be compared with Europe's elite and the other being harder edged and about 100Kg's lighter.
