This is for some of the other computer techies out there.
I am close to getting ADSL, finally! Oh it has just been a dream for years now!! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of some of the more affordable ISPs (companies with a big turner and good reputation would be ideal) who offer ADSL and large download limits (none preferrable). Has anyone got ADSL through TPG? I used to get dial-up with them years ago until they got too congested.
Any help is appreciated.
BTW: Happy Easter all :)

Hey XRated. I think I am in the same boat as you. I have been kinda looking around at ADSL for awhile but I am starting to get very close to getting it now.
I have been looking at getting the TPG plan (256/64) unlimmited for $69.95 a month. It seems great value. I too don't know much about the quality of their service though. Anyone on here with TPG?
Anyhow one website that might help you is www.whirlpool.net.au. This site has alot of info about broadband internet in Australia. Its a great resource and I have used it alot over the past few months to help work out what ADSL plan etc.
I have just been flicking through the forum at that site. There seems to be quite alot of positive personal reviews on TPG. Excelent :s5

Check out broadbandchoice as mentioned above. I have just ordered the $69.95/month plan with Netspace, which gives you 6Gig total (no peak or offpeak usage), with 512k/128k bandwidth. Quite a reasonable deal, and more importantly - some of my mates in the big city are on Netspace already, and data between users is totally free! That's gonna come in mighty handy!

If you want quality, have a look at internode at www.internode.on.net They do have so called unlimited, or speed shaped accounts, and at least they are up front with what limitations you will have on the 'unlimited' accounts, unlike others like netspace. You will only get what you pay for, if it seems cheap, you will suffer from slow download speeds.
TPG have gone from being overpriced and business orientated to more realistically priced.. The place I work gets commisions for TPG connections, but I rarely offered it to customers as it was too overpriced, now tho I do and as soon as my bigpond contract is up I'll be churning across....
Internode seems honest and reliable, however $90/month is out of my league for Internet! TPG doesn't seem to have the greatest feedback amongst their users (checked the sites posted above).
Will continue searching!...

How much download do you think you are going to use. I was a heavy user on 56k so I though I may need unlimited ADSL, but opted for the 512k 4.5Gb Internode plan and find it very hard to get to 3Gb let alone 4.5Gb even though I am now sharing the connection with my brother, another heavy user. The only reason I say this is because when you opt for an unlimited account, you will be speed restricted to some extent and will rarely get full speed. On my 512k I get full speed all the time. Just research it as much as possible, because as you know it costs around $140 each time you change carriers.
