Does anyone else think it's strange that for weeks now, everyone has known that SBR and Marcus Ambrose was going to take out this yrs V8 supercar crown, and yet there hasn'd been any advertising on the tv sticking it into the holden commodore. A couple of yrs ago now when skaifey won the title for the 100th time, just when the telecast had finished there were adds on tv stating how the commodore was no.1 on the track and in the market place etcetc.
Surely the ad gurus at FORD has had enough time to work something out............ I think it's another opputunity missed of rubbing salt into the wounds...............................I'll step of my soapbox now.
Right on!! Fords advertising and marketing is not getting any better. They should be plastering Marcos and Falcons all over the media. I'm sick of explaining to non-motorsport people who Marcos Ambrose is!!!
Here's an idea.......
Produce a strictly limited run of 100 BA GT's, all consecutively numbered by setting aside a block of build numbers. Have them painted "Pirtek Blue" or just use Shockwave (close enough in colour) put Red stripes on them and call them the "Ambrose Special", "SBR Special" or "Championship Special", anything along those lines. Get them all autographed by Marcos and have something unique only to them so replica's will be difficult to do. They'd go like hot cakes!!

sounds like a plan. possibly each year the winning team get to do this (whichever brand wins the title). maybe if DJR team won theyd be selling a few more cars?
as for the advertising you have to remeber that ford arent as low as holden are.
we dont feel the need to rub it in to the losers.

the result has only just been decided so it would have been premature to start that sort of advertising before it was over. how stupid would Ford look if Ambrose didnt do the business? however, now that it has been won, it is up to Ford to really take advantage of this opportunity...their advertising has been very poor.

Hell yes! Pirtek Blue, red stripes, similar wheels, 6 speed only, get Marcos to scribble on the dash or something, get some devil racer stuff going on the seats, perhaps give it a few more kws but don't tell anyone.
There was no point in bragging about Position 1 when waiting till after today the could Brag 1 & 2!!!
I like the idea of limited run Marcos (Or other) specials. Say 500 XR's which would be mostly a paint and option packages at attractive prices. And the limited run of 50 to 100 GT specials which would become and remain collectors items.
The XRs could be pitched in the same way Holden does limited runs like CV8R.
