Advertising Spends

In relation to the ongoing discussion about 'marketing' of various car brands, here are the latest figures relating to total advertising spend for 2001 & 2002 (A$ millions):

2002 2001
Toyota 60-65 70-75 (Toyota, Lexus, Daihastu)
GMH 50-55 55-60 (Holden, Isuzu, GM Daewoo)
Mutsubishi 45-50 35-40
Nissan 40-45 45-50 (Nissan, Renault)
Ford 35-40 45-50
Mazda 25-30 25-30
Inchape 25-30 15-20 (Subaru, Jaguar)
DaimlerChrysler 20-25 20-25
BMW 15-20 - (BMW, Landrover)
Ateco 15-20 15-20 (Kia, Alfa Romeo)

Would have thought Ford would have spent more on advertising seeing as it sponsers both the v8 Supercars and the footy...

When one has a superior product , advertising is irrelavent as it sells itself.
