To all the dreamers and test pilots out there...dont waste peoples time!

This is for all you tyre kickers who find the need to waste peoples time...

Begin rant/

I have my car for sale in a few papers, on carsales and on this forum. It is a 1991 EB XR8 with exhaust, extractors, lowered, dark tint, all new bits and pieces - the list goes on. Body, paint etc is immculate. Why is it that I seem to attract always the most annoying toss pot tyre kickers - and scammers for that matter! I cant belive it! Its a bloody $5500 car that is well worth it IMO (please correct me if i'm wrong given all the extras it has) yet people still feel the need to call up (some dont even have the balls to calll and text msg/email) say they are interested in the car, come along for a drive then offer crap amounts of money. To the dimwit who offered me $3500 (i dont know if you are on this forum as I only have your email) take you money to the nearest taxi workshop and see what you can get there as there is no way in hell that you are getting my car for that money!

And this arvo i get a text message from some guy named 'darren' who's message goes along the lines of "high, i am interested in your car...tell me about it...I cant call you as I have number barrings on my phone. thanks"

Darren my friend, the only thing you are 'high' on is exhaust fumes. why can't you just pick up the bloody land line and call like a normal person! I refused to waste a 25cent text message replying to that guy.

I am getting this crap for a 5000 dollar odd car. I can only imagine what kind of idiots would rock up if you are private selling a BA XR8.

If you are not interested in purchasing a car for close to the amount advertised - then dont bother people!

end rant/

had to get that off my chest!!!

What has been everyone else’ experience with these people?

Fortunately my first car selling experience was a good one, the guy was a top bloke. Negotiation was easy and at the end of the day we both did pretty well out of it. Mind you I think I could have got a little more for it but the hassle of having annoying tyre kickers seriously put me off bothering, Maybe you should advertise for it a little less and be less willing to negotiate on price. The car sounds nice. Also, leave your voice mail on the phone and only call back those who you think are really interested. I would not have let any idiots come and have a look, I don't have the time.

Selling cars is a real pain these days. Buying is much more fun.

It's weird - what works in advertising with one vehicle doesn't always have the same results with the next car.

Best of luck with the sale!

it just gets so frustrating! Knowing that others have the same problems makes it better though!

****, is that the normal price for an EB XR8 in Aussie?
In NZ, they would probably be around the 12-15 mark.
A mint 6cyl EB 'mont would be about 10k from a stealer here too :/

yeah pritty much - redbook values them at about $5000 stock - but mine has all the good bits as a bonus i guess...you get EF/EL xr8's for 12-15k AUD - or even a au xr6.
