If the XBox goes the way of the Dreamcast, nobody… NOBODY is going to be clamoring for the XBox 2 (how many millions of people are eagerly awaiting Dreamcast 2? That's right, zero million.)
i dont like MS very much... in case u didnt notice
Interesting article! Bill Gate$ has the buck$ behind him to continue to absorb losses for quite a long time, how about the others?

You will always have those for and against! I will stick to my x-box. Absolutely love it!! If it ever did fail then I would use it as a DVD player. It covers itself both ways!
The others? The gaming industry has a higher turnover than the movie industry, and LotR: FotR made $1.5billion on it's own.
Sony has it's fingers in everything, so they can afford to run PS2/3/4/5/6/etc into a loss, and while other parts make money. Nintendo aren't so widespread, but are also VERY secure financially.

Nintendo own the donkey kong and mario franchise (which is HUGE) as well as Pokemon (also massive). They have also joined forces with Sega and NeoGeo (i think) in making arcade games. Apparently Nintendo is heavily into hardware now. They are all huge companys with interests in other things in other markets. The 3rd generation console war will not be easily won.
Whilst a lot of people don't like Microsoft, I often wonder where PC computing would be if the big M had not been around.
A company cannot survive unless we buy their products. And yes there are other choices, but very few of them cater to such a broad range of requirements. That's not Microsofts fault, it's because no-one has stepped up to the plate to take them on. (big ask though)
As for the xbox, I reckon it will be around for sometime. It's only the base to a much larger area of profit and that would be the gaming software of which there is plenty coming out.
I also think that it's a bit hard to compare consoles as most of the good games are either PS2, xbox, or gamecube only titles, although that's starting to change.
My 2 cents anyway. :s5

hmmm....that certainly is very interesting indeed. also considering that they initiated the price war here in Australia. Probably to keep up with their global marketing activity. The good news is, eithe way, the gamers win! :s2:

Micro$oft can't control everything. MSN is where? The internet is huge, and microsoft don't own shit. Sure, their software (IE, etc) reigns but they don't own it.
