For those keeping count there is at least one drive team reporter that seems to have a fair go at reporting facts on the barra and not hype. Toby Hagon has another article in todays age. Couple of pictures and specs.
A fair bit to report from his article so here we go.
For those that didn't like the XR look from wheels or Motor you are most likely going to be disappointed.
Seats have been replaced with plusher items offering more lateral support and partial electronic adjustment across the range.
Parking sensors on upper models, full colour touch screen Satnav vent (havac)controls on Fairmonts up (Australian First)
Side air bags on most models
Ford are said to have missed weight targets making Barra over weight, but there is an upside to the extra weight interms of refinement. Fuel consumption might not be as lucky
Better brakes (to cope with the weight) and the IRS refinement that we all knew about!
He also talks of the turbo XR6 having similar performance to the current XR8 with about 215 -220kws from its low pressure set up
3 V8 configs spead accross the range. XR8 said to be about 240kw
Tickford versions getting up to the 300kw mark
Name changes Forte and futura might be gone and the GT and GTHO may be used in the Tickford range
Lastly Holden are expecting the unexpected as they are fully aware of Fords desire to get this car right first up.

I have to dissagree with that statement, unless Ford are using different front guards on the Barra then we don't have to worry.
If Ford put the same front guards on the XR's as the rest of the models then the headlights on the XR won't look like the ones in the Motor pic - the grill could be the same but that doesn't worry me.

My feeling still says that teh XR front will be different than the Motor drawings.

Then my friend you are out of luck too.
"XR's will get a body styling kit and unique headlights that incorporate dual cut outs on each side, protruding into a purpose-made bumper incorporating fog lamps"
Motor may have the sides wrong, but as has been said before Have a close look at the lights on Craigs car. The lights from motor aren't that far away.
Originally posted by RPO83 Thanks for that. I had suspected they were going to drop the Forte name for a while, but I didn't know the Futura name was going.
Toby has been the best of the crew in respect to the Falcon, lets hope the others start being constructive soon.
Agree 100% Of all the jurnos Toby has been the best informed todate.

Yep I think the biggest problem (or discrepancy) with Motor's pics are that the proportions of the lights are all out. Totally wrong. Looks like they have grafted on some Integra lights and retained their initial size too.
Going on Lowndsey's cars front end, the Barra XR8 headlights will be FAR more shapely and look a hell of a lot better than Motor's half-assed attempt.

Absolutely right. Maybe he's not on the Holden drive.com.au payroll? :s6: He seems to have the most sense and balance when it comes to reporting on Fords.

Christ I hope so! If the headlights resemble the proportions of the Motor mock up then I'll be getting an AUIII runout model!
