HALLE Berry gave her fans a real treat yesterday –by turning up a day early to begin work on her Scottish film.
The 45-year-old looked every inch the Hollywood A-lister as she appeared in Glasgow city centre with co-star Hugo Weaving and director Tom Twyker ready to film Cloud Atlas.
And after a quick read-through of some of her lines and a laugh with the film crew, the Catwoman star headed off for a real taste of Scotland – by scoffing a posh fish supper complete with mushy peas.
She joked with staff at the Red Onion restaurant: “I make my own fish and chips at home. Will it be as good?”
Halle took a seat upstairs, while her management closed the blinds from onlookers.
Owner John Quigley said: “We got no phone call in advance about our special visitor. It was just a walk-in.
“Her entourage ordered monkfish curry but Halle insisted on enjoying the Scots favourite.”
After her meal, Quigley asked the star if she had enjoyed it and she replied: “It came second only to mine.”
Halle then toasted the chef with a glass of red wine, before bowing and saying: “Thanks for a great meal. We’ll be coming back.”
She then vowed to go out and meet her fans and told the Record she was “loving” Scotland.
The set of her film in Douglas Street was a hive of activity earlier, as crew members painted graffiti on walls and built fake kerbs with water hydrants and American street signs to recreate the story’s San Francisco setting.
She even tried a roll on the bonnet of a car on the set, although she’ll have a stunt double for anything too risky.
