141kw at $29990 with decent equipment seems more like the price a "hot hatch" should be be.
I wonder how long it is going to take Ford to start dropping the price on the Focus? If not it is going to become pretty irrelevant in the marketplace and take it's place with the mondeo, probe, taurus etc..
The ST170 was always going to be overpriced, it's a great unit don't get me wrong, but against the rest of the pack, the value just isn't there. This is a crying shame, because it has got a lot of potential and has some standout features... but because of the sticker price, a lot people won't even get as far as looking at these features...
If it was $8,000 better than the Corolla then there wouldn't be an issue. Hopefully FPV is on the case and brings out their incarnation of it for nearer to $40k than $50k... and let's face facts, it will NOT be a local version of the RS, I'm tipping it will sit comfortably halfway between the ST170 and RS in terms of spec, performance, price, and equipment.

Clicky clicky here for previous ride! I still miss her!
Asked the sales guy what sort of delay there was on delivery if I placed an order. Was told that if I wanted to buy one from him, the car I just drove was it (with about 100km on the clock and scratches on the side skirt from the underside of the door rubbing on it).
His explanation was that because there are only 120 odd being imported here, and only one per dealership, that all are basically being used as demo cars.
Has anybody heard of this or is this guy talking out of his a**e?
A $37K list price is even steeper if this is the case.

Yep, we have had the same stuff at our dealership....One ST170 on as a demo...new cars reckons that's all...
But will the Corolla be as good to drive in 5 years or even 1 year? More to the point, will the Toyota inspire you as much? I would be suprised if it did. BTW the new Golf arrives soon with a rumoured 2.0 20V TURBO.

Ford sales dept predicts 50 per month, so there has to be more than 120 out there, otherwise they won't have enough stock for more than just over 2 months. Perhaps 120 is the first batch, with more to come?
If it's a demo model, you should get demo model prices (around 5 to 10% off)
