Another little traffic light fight
On Sunday night just out of Sydney I ended up parked next to a vy ute at the lights. About 200m ahead of the lights the two lanes formed to one. I didn't think much of it just sitting there waiting for the other lights to go amber, red then count 3,2,1 and go but at about the count of 2 this bloke started revving his engine in preperation for a launch. I thought why not and as the lights went green I gunned my trusty XH. I dumped the clutch at 2500rpm and quick changed to second at 4900rpm. He was in front until my ute started hiting its straps at just over 3000rpm where I edged closer and overtook him on the change into second where it really knuckles down. I was surprised that I actually won and then he had to sit up my ass for the next few kilometres where I strictly stuck to the 80km/hr limit. Was I lucky or does the old XH have some balls. I was the only one in my car and had about a half of a tank of fuel on board. He had a passenger in his VY. Would the fact that I had just driven 330km from Canberra and my ute was thoroughly warmed up affect anything?
Also I used 60L of fuel on my trip and travelled 680km sitting on 120km/hr along the hume for most of the trip. Is this good fuel economy as this is about the best fuel economy I can remember getting on the ute?
