Anyone know the real story

My new UTE has just arrived at the dealer. Salesman rings me to say all is OK apart from the hard tonneau cover being on backorder. I thought FPV fitted them if you ordered them as a factory option. Salesman says no only Pursuit UTE get the factory fitted tonneau cover.

But the thing I am most concerned about is the black plastic lugs that run around the back and sides of the tray. When I ordered the hard tonneau cover I expected it to look like the XR8 ute in the ford brochure.
i.e No black lugs just the little colour coded grommets placed to cover the holes. Anyway dealer tells me they are not available and i will have to take the car as is. I,m really pissed off I want the smooth ute look not those bloody ugly ( Now useless ) Lugs running around the tray. Does anyone know the real story.
a) How do you get the lugs off.
b) Where can I get the colour coded plastic grommets to fill the holes. Ford spare parts??
c) Any other info that someone on the forum may have about this problem.

No expert here but I've seen a few AU/BA utes with the colour coded grommets fitted, much better than the plastic lugs if you've got a hard tonneau. The black lugs for the tonneau seem to be riveted on in some manner, so I assume using the smallest diameter drill to drill out the centre may be the way to go, saying that, I took the plastic tub out of my AU II ute in about 10 minutes to get a dent removed, might be worth doing the same to check the fitting method of these lugs. Ford spare parts sell the small grommets but I'm pretty sure you'll have to get them painted.
Mess with the bull, get the horns!

part no. of grommet is AU2 0360271 A
they do need to be painted
the lugs are riveted on so you should be able to just drill the rivet out.
