Anyone read the "tomorrow, when the war began" books by John Marsden?
as it says...
i am a MASSIVE fan of this series (7 books in total) and i own them all, have read them like 8 times each...i cant get enough of them.
anyway, i was in big W today getting film, and i saw a book on a shelf called "where i live" by john marsden, and above his name it has "the Ellie chronicles" im like....no WAY! picked it up and sure enough, its like the start of a 'volume two' of the tomorrow series...i couldnt believe it!
bought it, took it home and got to chapter 9 in about two hours...
so just wondering, has anybody else read these books, and what do you think of them? they give me goosebumps reading them!

Re: Anyone read the "tomorrow, when the war began" books by John Marsden?
Yeah, i love and own the entire series. I started reading them when my older sister was in high school quite a few years ago, she had to read the first book for English class and i've been hooked since.
I was overseas for most of last year, came back home and had my birthday about a month later, and my sister had got me the 8th book and i had no idea he was planning on writing another!
Apparently after the 7th, he said he was done, but i guess he changed his mind. The next thing will be how many he writes following along the lines of after the war, but he generally takes a year per book so there could be a fair bit of waiting involved.
But, they have generally proved to be worth the wait, and i'm not going anywhere!!

A scoop hey, um.. it's a good book and you should read it for yourself!!!
Nah, it's well worth the effort to pick them all up, hard cover preferably, the front and back covers alone make it worth it.
8th book follows the same storyline but it's sort of a new beginning with the war being over but still a lot of angst cause they're trying to share the country. Involves gang warfare and insertion raids and other stuff.
My question still remains that i've had since the first book. Who is invading? My theory without sounding racist is either Indonesia or India. Anyone else?
Re: Anyone read the "tomorrow, when the war began" books by John Marsden?
yeah..i think he is not saying who has invaded on purpose, so that there is no chance he will p!ss off our lovely northern neibours :) but yeah, personally i think they would be indonisian or something...
am i the only one that would instantly marry any chick i ever met that was like Ellie? how can you fall in love with a character from a book? im a pretty sad case i reckon!
so how long has the 8th book been out? i was also under the impression that the 7th was his last...im damn happy i was wrong!

Not sure about marrying Ellie, i reckon she would kick the crap out of you if you pissed her off!! either that or blow you up or just turn the shotgun on ya!!
Not too sure how long the 8th has been out, i got mine as a present mid to late january, and i think it might have been out for a while before that, maybe a new year release?
Understandable on Marsden's behalf not mentioning any countries or possible invaders, but i don't like open ended questions. i want the cold hard truth damn it!

Yeap. I read the first one in about grade five or six (nearly a decade ago now). I bloody loved them - I own up to the fourth or fifth one. I think I will read them all again and buy the rest. I really enjoyed the very first one.
