April VFACTS figures are in

The April VFACTS figures are up on the drive.com.au website (unfortunately they only show the top 3 for each variant...and don't show all variants ie. Utes)

Toyota still rules after record April
By Chris. Gable
Wednesday May 5 2004

Still the records tumble! Latest figures show Toyota still rules the roost and April new car retail sales figures again eclipsed the previous record.

And last month's sales were 3.5 percent up on April, last year, with prestige cars and both medium-size and luxury SUVs leading the charge.

Total April market volume was 71,305 vehicles -- well up on last year's previous best April total of 68,865,.

Toyota again topped the tree for the month and continued to lead the market year-to-date. Next up came Holden, Ford, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Honda, Subaru and Kia.

Toyota's year-to-date market lead over Holden was 6784 sales, or 2.3 percent.

Segment-by-segment top threes for April were:

Light cars
1. Toyota Echo -- 1369 sales
2. Hyundai Getz -- 1281
3. Kia Rio -- 785

Small cars
1. Toyota Corolla -- 2815 sales
2. Mazda3 -- 2057
3. Holden Astra -- 1743

Medium cars
1. Toyota Camry (4 cylinder) -- 1721 sales
2. Mazda6 -- 894
3. Subaru Liberty -- 554

Large cars
1. Holden Commodore -- 5419 sales
2. Ford Falcon -- 5154
3. Mitsubishi Magna V6 -- 1192

3. Holden Zafira -- 156

Sports cars
1. Holden Monaro -- 151 sales
2. Holden Astra Convertible -- 116
3. Peugeot 307 Convertible -- 88

Prestige cars
1. Honda Accord -- 1127 sales
2. Nissan Maxima -- 310
3. Holden Statesman -- 289

Luxury cars
1. BMW 3 Series -- 568 sales
2. Mercedes-Benz C Class -- 396
3. Mercedes-Benz E Class -- 213

SUV Compact
1. Nissan X-Trail -- 1131 sales
2. Toyota RAV4 -- 966
3. Subaru Forester -- 877

SUV Medium
1. Toyota Prado -- 1271 sales
2. Toyota Kluger -- 614
3. Mitsubishi Pajero -- 502

SUV Large
1. Toyota Landcruiser Wagon -- 1165 sales
2. Nissan Patrol Wagon -- 611
3. Ford Explorer -- 100

SUV Luxury
1. BMW X5 -- 237 sales
2. Lexus RX330 -- 202
= 3. Jeep Grand Cherokee -- 136
= 3. Mercedes-Benz M Class -- 136

-----------------------------------------------

I actually went searching for the figures on the ninemsn search bar....and surprise surprise the first entry it showed was a link to FordForums.com

I like the difference between the Commodore and Falcon....even if the actual 5000 figure is a little disappointing.

I'm finding the falc being below the commo a lil weird... I haven't seen too many new commodores going around, and I haven't seen a holden taxi since... ever.

Soon enough, Falcon will grab that No.1 spot and keep it.

Re: April VFACTS figures are in

How do you get Vfacts?

I honestly for the life of me figure out why people buy the Commodores more than the Falcon, It has been proven in many reviews the Falcon is overall a better car even compared to the Series 2 I think, why would you buy the lesser car? I guess the Holden image and marketing is that much above the image and marketing of Ford Australia's

Re: April VFACTS figures are in

I think you will find that the Territorys sales will eat in to the traditional large car market Falcon/Commode as well as the 4WD market Prado/Pajero etc, wait untill the last quarter
of the year results.

Ps Anyone notice the poor sales figures on the Monaro ?
I think it's novelty value has worn off

Shit, Mitsi have dropped off big time. Last time I saw they were always in 4th spot.

What I think is most screwed up is the Camry and Echo lead their class

Re: April VFACTS figures are in

The holden one-tonner has had an effect on the ute sales by the looks of it with it getting market leadership over ford.
