Nicfe to be on the selling side of the equation. Here's the new baby delivered to Qantas today. It's a 747-400ER which is much the same as what people are used to (on the outside) except it can now take off at 910,000lbs or 412,800kgs. That means being able to fly LAX to SYD non stop with all seats full and the cargo holds jammed, plus full fridges (beer and bourbon of course)
Wait till you guys see the new interiors! Fantastic!

So i take it Boeing wouldn't need Herrods help for modifing the engine.
I don't know too much about Jetliners but from reading the specs of planes in 1995, engines range from GE, RollsRoyce and Pratt and Witney.
I take it they are using Rolls Royce jet engines for this 747 400ER.

I had the pleasure of flying up front and up top of a 747 on my honeymoon. All I can say is it's got me stuffed how they can get something so big and heavy to fly.
The other weird thing was when sitting on the tarmac, your so high off the ground to the usual airliner seat possie.
