Picked up my new boat mag (my other interest) from the newagency today, mob in Brookvale NSW called Suburban Imports advertise boat engines. Anyway what I found interesting was one add, reads as follows:

Brand new LS1 Chev, 300KW 360ltb torque fuel injected motor (aluminium block, sump, heads) this engine is BRAND NEW. $7800

This got me thinking, pic up an VXGen3 (40,000km) Xcop car at auction for about $29k-$30 (WA auction price), drop on the new donk and use anyparts you need (startermotor, hoses etc etc, not sure what comes with the 300kw engine, looks complete in the pic) then sell the almost complete stock 225kw gen 3 from the VX, no idea what this would be worth but I imagine would not be hard to sell (say $5000 at a guess) anyway

Total $31800

Dont know of any other cars that you could have on the road with 40,000km and 300kw from a brand new engine for less than $32,000.

the yanks I dont think the really have a 300kw configuration LS1, the LS6 is around that mark though.

One still in the small town I am in, one in other town my folks are so a few left that I know of and probably a stack still in the city, probably be all gone in about 6 months or so. $25k, ****e thats good value, I usually buy the price guide from WA autoauctions each month how long ago did you buy yours?

About a month ago. There were a few there that were in very good condition, including a nice metallic green one. I have'nt seen any V8 AU's there for absolutely ages.

This may be slightly of the topic,

Correct me if i'm wrong but don't the US measure engine power in SAE where by the engine is rated with out auxilery equipment like aircon, power steering pumps and alternator, hence the higher power reading than our standards.

We use DIN where by we measure the engine with everything hooked up like whats under the boonet.

So teh power rating in US doesn't necessarily equate to the same power output as here in Aus.
