I dont know if any of you people have had seat problems but I have. I have had the driver seat of my au 2 ute recovered by the dealer on warranty after 30,000 kms of use. I got the feeling from the dealer that that was a common problem. My xr8 seams to have better seats. My question is will Ford have fixed this problem with the new barra seats. How many of you people have had this problem. And the ute doesn't get treated any different to my xr8 and I am not a big guy either.
I have 50,000 on my AUII XR (same seats as your XR8 i think?) and the seats look like new , i think its because they are black and dont show dirt and stains....

Hi there, the cloth on my ute seat was falling apart. I think the term for this is pilling. The foam in the seat is the problem so I was told by the dealer. It has a firmer foam in it now much like the xr8.
Also most AU driver seats suffered from ripping at the bottom left corner (looking from outside the car). The cloth aint very good material and there was never enough foam in there
After putting up with a hole in my seat for 2 years i had the interior cloth replaced. More foam added to all seats and body color blue added to the sides and headrests
Check out a little photo of it at my homepage link in the asylum
Will take some more detailed shots during the week.
Hopefully this discussion is being read by Geoff and the seats of the BA will be better.
My seats are standard forte but because of the huge amount of added foam are like race seats. Drove home from a friends place last night and as soon as i turned off the car in the carport i fell asleep. SO COMFY
the seats in my mums AU1 fairmont are LESS then desirable... actually craps a better word! but i couldnt be happier with the seats in my AU2 s-pack so far! so comfortable!

In terms of seats, i guess it will vary from person to person, but driving the work fairmont the seats are ok but i have to say there alittle flat, but the seats in my XR rock, i mean there on of the best seats in a car ever, thats being dead honest. Bolstered sides that hold you around corners yet it's still very comfy. Even the lumbar support is at the right position for my back.
Oh yeah i love the colour of them as well.

The seats are pretty good in the XR (especially in leather :s6:), and especially after tearing around in the 1100:s5
Still not enough support IMO, particularily shoulder support. I got given a ride in an STi, and the seats in that were bloddy awesome, I could barely move. I guess the problem is that the seats have to suit a wide range on body sizes, but I like my seats to squeese the air outa me :s5
