I remember when the AU first came out there was a huge fuss made about it being the first Falcon with IRS. Did this ever eventuate? Because every AU I have looked at has had a live rear axle. Also they had a heap of hype about it being able to shut down cylinders if it over heated. Cheers.

The IRS is called a double wishbone arrangement, it doesn't have any exciting name officially, you could call it, Falirs if you wish. It works reasonably well, not quite as ridgid, light, compact, quiet or as tuneable as the blade setup, but its still really good design, for anytype of car.

And if you're handy with a welder, you could transplant the rear floor section and chassis rails from an XE-AU (depending on whether you wanted the spare wheel well or not) into an early girl and run IRS...
