Re: Australian Idol

I could go on there and do Nude School by the Painters & Dockers or In The Raw by Lubricated Goat, but that would mean getting into character and Australia just ain't ready for my nudity just yet....

Here's my thoughts on a few Australian Idols:

Marty - Much like Shannon "Nollsy" Noll from last year, not all that talented, but with an alleged Triple M image that should sell to blokes musically and chicks that like their men supposedly with that "rock" look. Everything about him reeks of "cliche"

Emelia - A lot of similarities with Cosima De Vito from last year ( someone should've warned Cosima that the only previous De Vito to be successful was a 4'2 guy that would be no where had he been 6'2 ). Anyway I do go on LOL, Emelia is very similar to Cosima in that she never really performs all that well and isn't all that talented but does just barely enough each week to beat eviction. The other similarity is this so-called "hard life I've been having" image they both portray.

Amali - Can anybody tell me why this girl made it through when people who could actually sing never got anywhere? I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that she is 16 and pretty desirable physically.

Angie - As good as she was, I'm sorta glad she never got past the first round; I just think it's time Fijian people on Australian reality TV shows were put out to stud - so to speak.

Anthony - How this karaoke machine got this far is staggering to me. He is a mummy's boy who sings as if he is trying to impress his little sisters friends at a 12th birthday party.

Courtney - The best performer ever seen in any of these Aust Idol/Popstars shows yet he won't win because as someone said it will be manipulated due to him not having the "right" image.

Chanel - I won't comment too much because I have a massive crush on her! But I will say that she has shown several times that the Australian public know more about music than the three judges give them credit for.

Dan - What were they thinking when they let him on the show, but then again the Australian public voted with their thumbs pretty quickly. Fancy doing a Creed song knowing Dicko hates them with a passion and knowing that most people think they suck.

Daniel Bell - Dude give up on the ballads, it will count against you in the end. He has the look that chicks seem to love and a fantastic voice, I think the final three will be him, Courtney and Chanel.

Hayley - She is very lucky that Angie, Dan and Amali have been in the show thus far.

Casey - Puts forward this grunge/skater/goth image then sings bloody nanna songs, go figure. Image conscious chicks will get her before too long... The 13-16 y.o's who dominate this shows voting demographic will not want posters of her on their walls for the next two years. A shame because she can sing, but image her will be the loser.

Ricki-Lee - She can sing and is very easy on the eye, but imagine being a 14 y.o chick and having to choose between her and Daniel Bell...

The worst thing about this year's idol is that I'm constantly agreeing with Dicko on many things and that is not good!

Holden is an absolute buffoon, but you gotta admit that for a woman in her 50's Marcia is still pretty hot in a Mrs Robinson kinda way.

Cheers

Oh Yeah and if you don't like something on TV ie Idol or Big Brother Etc, change the channel

Re: Australian Idol

I forgot to mention that I think Anthony is so similar to Robert "Millsy" Mills from last year that we can expect to see him in an alleged fling with Paris Hilton by early next year

Re: Australian Idol

i like it, to an extent, but with at least 4 of them getting some form of record label out of it (if last year has any influence) and it happens each year, its sort of just a manufacture. I like it, but i wil always like my other bands better

Re: Australian Idol

Only Nollsy and Guy actually "won" anything from the show itself, Paulini got signed to another label and Cosima brought out her own label. Millsy got signed to Dicko's label, but that deal was done way before the show ended.
Look out for Levi's group Lethbridge and also that beatbox fella, Joel who have albums coming out soon.

Re: Australian Idol

I think it is a terrible concept...my reasons are below:

- People who have a dream of actually becoming singers are shattered in front of the whole of Australia, rather than just being in front of record executives.
- People who cannot sing to save themselves are either publicly humiliated, or actually even worse are given their own "Special" to sing like tone-deaf dicks.
- 'Pop' music is generally the type of music that is picked because it is what appeals to the 15 year old pimply teenagers who watch and SMS...I hate pop music.
- It costs money to vote whereas in America it is free.
- For people who aren't interested it is like Big Brother, you can't escape it.

I have a friend who is a brilliant singer, she got to the second round of auditions (before the Televised part) and was cut. She has very much a country and western style and isn't a glamour girl. It broke her heart and even though she has such an amazing voice and depth of talent, she hasn't been near a microphone since. It has broken her self-esteem and shattered her confidence. I can only imagine what she thought when those hopeless rejects got their own special concert to sing like idiots when she, along with others who could sing but have a different style didn't get recognition at all.

Terrible.

as far as i know, scribble is just a DJ....doesnt do any beat boxing..

the only place ive seen him DJ is on the cindy margolis show, and he's a bit of a wanker imo.

rahzel is the godfather of sound

now on topic, fordhawk mentioned it being free to vote in america....that may sound good, but all that would do is make the winner even less accurate...if people have to PAY for their votes, then they will think about who they wanna spend their money on, as they'll be doing when it comes time to by the "idol's" album....

i also think they should have some kind of limiter in place so that you cant just vote a million times...the contestants with rich families or a shit load of friends can just have them vote non stop to increase their chance of winning.

thats the main fault of the show IMO, the fact that to win, you dont have to be the most popular...you just have to be the most voted for....and the 2 are not the same thing
