Smile australias best song

following on from Falchoons tragic news that black lace didnt get the top song in england, i think we should look at oz's best song.

should it be;

pat wilson 'bop girl'

v capri - everything they did

joe dolce 'shaddupa you face'

uncanny x-men ' 50 years'

this issue needs to be urgently looked at. we cannot let bands like machinations get a look in.

well......

Hmmm, don't remember that one.:oo1:

The other songs are classics though! Was Brian Mannix the original person to sport a mullet? A bit disapointed that Cold Chisel didn't make it into your list rsgerry!:s6:

Ditto^2 what Kell and Jucy said!

I reckon there'll be 2 different lists: one for the old timers and one for the young'ns.

OI!!!

young people of today have no respect! old timer my arse.

i am not that old...honestly.

the songs were from the last century...the 80's to be precise. surely i cant have been the only on this board that was born before the era of mullets, flouro socks and mobile phone bricks?!?!?

:crazy1:

roll

ssssssssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhhhh

okay, for the benefit of the younger guys...

pat wilson was the wife of ross wilson. he was the singer from mondo rock. bop girl was a truly awful song, which ross helped out on. the video showed pat running about in a wedding dress.

v-capri were one of the very few perth bands to do anything, the biggest and best by far being the trriffids who recieved acclaim and success overseas, but not much in oz, and none in perth. anyway, the ex-lead singer, todd johnson (sp???) now reads the weather on channel 9. their stuff was absolute crap, but i think they got a top 10 hit. once.

the uncanny x-men were fronted by a bloke called brian mannix. he was about 2 feet tall, wore stonewash jeans and had and enourmous mullet. they were crap too.

everyone knows joe dolce...or at least his brush with fame. i believe he hates that song, and is still performing. i lived in england when this gem was released and i think it went #1 there.

maybe you kiddies have heard of;

ac/dc
icehouse
the triffids
machinations
models

some of teh better bands of old. and DONT tell me about kylie...very easy on the eye, should be banned from making records.

Going of the topic abit i reckon Australias best song should be

Land Down Under by Men At Work, in fact it should be Australias anthem i reckon.
