I took my gf's father who is very keen on murals, and with rice burners re-igniting the craze the old wagoner's went nuts with he's keen to make some $$ on the side. He saw the art on display, and is very sure he can do better! He's doing the upcoming job on my car (not a mural) and we were looking for other ideas.
Lots of totally ridiculous or outrageous stuff depending on how you view it. Plenty of VERY nice totty too, I might add. :s6:
The best cars I saw was Pioneer's XR6 and the Strathfield Car Radios Xr8. :s6:
I didn't get much out of it, except a Pioneer catalogue which got me mentally spending money. I did get the feeling if anyone went a bit further with their car, and did something that would be equally at home at the Auto Salon as it would the Summernats, they'd do very well.

Maybe something like the Xplod XR8............onya Herrod!
I used to go all the time to those events but get seriously bored now. It's not because the cars are crap or because I don't like them. They're awesome cars, its just that they're the same awesome cars every year.
And I was definately thinking about how my EL xr6 could have a go after my aftermarket bodykit is finally made and fitted. There were'nt any fords besides the sponsored ones. There were quite a few commys though. In fact, God of Auto Salon went to Psyco, a fully, fully, done up commy ute.
For those of you who don't like all those rice cars you should take note that alot of those cars will leave us ford drivers reading their custom plates and staring at their clear altezza wannbe tail lights.

I'd question that mate, i mean if they had like $80k spent on say a hyundai excel versus a stocky rep falcon then perhaps but give it an apples on apples scenario then we'll see.
Like i've stated before in other threads GTR's Supras 3000GT's are not branded as ricers in my opinion, there genuine sports cars.

Right, well they're some of the cars I meant. Rexys, Evo's and pretty much all of the nissans (worked200sx, 300zx and there were a hell of a lot Skylines there)
Most of the cars there, including a couple of my friends, are all looks, but there's no doubt some of them will kill Fords.
But then again, what good is all the show without the go. Hehehe it's funny when my friends do up their Jap cars and bone stock I totally obliterate them. Nothing better than rubbing it in my mates face who spent $40k on a non turbo supra and I blow him away.
There is no way I could spend the sort of money thse guys spend and then not drive the car it would drive me crazy. I saw on Today Tonight a couple of guys who have a WRX painted with a Tiger theme and they said they never drive the car its only for show, I couldn't stand it I would have to drive it.
spending all that money on a car, and then not driving it, is simply pointless!
i'd like to own a showcar, but i'd have to have a blown AV TS50 in the garage, an AV 5.4L Forte as the tow car, and a spare $150,000 sitting in the bank account to do up that XY i've always wanted! :)

I remember reading somewhere that some well known WRX modifiers got busted for drug smuggling a year or so back. I also so hear people whispering that the owners of these types of cars are into the drug scene. I know that most aren't but I know a few in Canberra alone that are.
