Julian Edgar doesn't have much good to say about his Tickford visit.

Here's a summary:

He goes on and on about the reuse of the Windsor V8 (39 year old design), when nobody else is powering their cars with engines of this sort of age.

He doesn't like the new aero bits on the TS50 ..

Then regarding his tour:

* Highlighted the fact that Tickford takes 0km cars and throws out lots of brand new parts (ie calipers, extractors.

* Critisised the process for adding aero parts (ie apparent 'misuse' of a power drill) - "I have seen neater and more careful jobs carried out in suburban body shops."

* Didn't like the sunroof installation either .. "What you get is an aftermarket Hollandia sunroof installed by the simple expedient of cutting - with a pair of powered sheers - a big hole through the roof."

Just getting the gist of his comments across.. the article is quite long. I think the 'From the editor' posts become publicly readable after a couple of weeks.

This guy obviously doesnt know what hes talking about. He seems to forget that the OHC Falcon 6 is based on the 144 integral intake motor released in 1960 - a few years older than the 302W. I dont know about you, but a smile always comes to my face when I pump cars with much newer designed motors at the lights with my 250 crossflow.. Its gonna get a helluva lot better with a twincam head - Not Bad For A 42 Year Old Design Concept!. He also seems to neglect that much of the power developed by an engine is realised by the head its using - Tickford have extended the Windsor's lifespan by miles. I agree that Ford could delete stuff like headers, bodykits etc on the production line, but thats Ford, not Tickford. Sounds like someone is trying to rock the boat Ford is in..

Well I am a member and when the opening sentence has the following

Look, I haven't pedalled a Tickford Ford Falcon. It may well be that the cars drive impressively, with sophisticated handling and engines developing powerful and refined punch. But if in fact they do, it can only be because of a triumph of development over design and build quality...

You know the article is going to be of a very poor quality

Well, I have to agree with Ian on this one. The first sentence says it all.

Julian Edgar - your credibility has gone down the toilet with all the sh!te you have just come out with. I have been with Autospeed since day 0, but it's hard to justify remaining a member in the light of this article and the neverending dribble about WRX's that the site has become.

Autospeed is now nothing but another Fast Fours & Riceboys site.

Mr Edgar has had alot of contriversy around him much of his professional career.

They hate him at skyline downunder for bagging out the GTR. Think what you will about it, but it isn't a bad car, and it has proved itself, Mr Edgar thought diffrently.

Seems that contriversy drums business, now that there aren't any forums, he will get hasselled less.

I was a member of Autospeed, however it doesn't make much sense to be one now, the articles are pretty crappy imho, and there are no forums. That and my free membership expired.

Julian Edgar, what a disgrace. I mean you'd have to be so prepped up to be critical that your impartiality is gone before you get there to make thse comments.

Tickford have their hands tied on a lot of things, and they do a great job at what they do. I'm a fussy b@stard and I can say the fit and finish on my XR8 is very, very good (from what I remember..... :oo1: ).
