The AV will have revolutionary running gear, my sources have told me (VERY reliable) that Ford have dumped the gearbox alltogether.

They will be runing a direct drive setup and incorporate a 5 speed diff, higher on in the range 6 speed diffs will be availiable. Yes, there will be manual and auto flavoured diff availiable.

Didnt some 70's Dodge have a 2 speed diff? It was the Charger or Challenger I think. Maybe it was the Challenger T/A with Dana diff.

Beerbox, I havent read so much crap in my entire life, I was told Ford are actually going to use the 3.8lt Ecotec for the AV as they prepare the DOHC 4.0lt which is currently well behind it's deadlines and Geoff doesnt want another 88 EA on the streets so is playing it safe.

gearbox, i have to say i can't believe you on the 5-6 speed diff. I mean thats going to be one mega sized diff under the car. Even 2 speed diffs are relatively large.
I think it's abit too revolutionary for the average car.


I think more sense is ford will have the 5 speed BTR auto and a T56 as a manual option.

I think Ford will re-introduce the 3.2L de-stroker engine. "Small Block" as a stop gap for the DOHC.

ive heard from a reliable source, that ford is implemnting the engine from a gtr skyline. Mr P was heard saying in the corridors of Ford "WEll it worked for holden."
