I don't know if it has dawned on all of you that the naming of the new Falcon BA is a very significant event for Ford Aus. This is the first time a model code has altered during the run of a body style. To date there have been 6 body styles of Falcon since its release in September 1960. The first body style XK/L/M/P, the second, XR/T/W/Y, third XA/B/C, fourth XD/E/F, fifth EA/B/D/F/L and current AU/BA.
i believe the AU will appear very alienated in the future. Mainly because nothing else shares the same A-series designation.
Which also could mean that the AU TS50 could be a HOT collectors item. Being the car that has responded to HSV's power threat. And is, so far, the fastest Ford to come out of Oz.
I am pretty sure that it wouldn't have been planned to change model codes mid run, but as a result of the poor sales of the AU it was necessary to create a greater distinction between the two models. I think it was a good move.
Certainly fooled all of us who have been calling it the AV for the last year or so!

i agree with chubbz watch in years 2 come how many people will be trying 2 get there hands on a TS50 i also belive that one day our kids will be saying "ohhh how mad is the TS50" they will treat it like we treat our classics, like xy gt n so on......but my personal opinion is AY would have been more catchy, but we will get use 2 BA...
Look at as many new BA falcon pics as u can. and then goto fords website and look at the current AUIII. Its a shock. its like the AU looks so outdated it aint funny. I think the BA is going to go places. thats my 2cents worth anyway.
