BA Powertrains

We've mostly speculated on the engines. We're guessing on

4.0l DOHC 24 valve I6
4.0l DOHC 24 valve turbocharged I6
5.4l SOHC 24 valve V8
5.4l DOHC 32 valve V8

So, how about the rest?

Gearboxes? Will T5 hang around, or will the Tremec become the standard box, or will they introduce the T56, or something else? How about the autos, might the BTR/Ford developed 5 speed auto rear it's head soon?

Two piece tail shafts or will they stick to the current one piece?

Diff options?

I don't think Ford are cutting corners here so i think we will see significant upgrades in these areas also.

I predict a tiptronic 5 speed Auto..

The upgraded 5 speed manual as standard..

I'm pretty sure that they mentioned the 2 piece tail shaft will be standard also.

One of my wishes is for a shorter first/second gear in the auto.

No more granny gearing please!! :dead:

Venom XR, this newfalcon site said 4 NEW engines. You only have 3 NEW engines. the turbocharged and non turbo are the same engine. So this leaves room for 1 more engine???4.6L muzzie engine? or a 351????

I think ford will be at a major marketing disadvantage if they don't introduce a 6 speeder.. even though for normal day to day driving it may not be a big difference in a marketing brochure and as a sales pitch it'll be a big issue....

I hope Ford will use a 5-speed tiptronic auto in the BA Falcon.

Though I just hope when they designed the shifter and shifter surround they put the + (up) towards the rear and the - (down)at the front like the new Mondeo so you feel like you're driving a BTCC car.

Most other makers have the + and - the other way around.

A 6 speed manual would be good as well.

I still think the turbo-charged I6 will be considered another engine - for marketing purposes.
