In the recent motor magazine its say that when Ford releases its new 2WD and 4WD Raptor SUV, the BA Wagon will be cut from the Falcon range.

I would very much doubt that, considering the amount of wagons they sell to fleet buyers which is a significant proportion of their customers.... and I seem to recall Holden recently lost the Telstra contract to Ford? An SUV model is not practical for large fleets and Telstra requirements.

Why don't they just base the wagon straight off the sedan - ie SWB with IRS. Sure it wont have as much storage capacity but it will have more room than the sedan - especialy for tall items and it will have the decent handling and easier parking.

This would make it similar to the Euro and Jap wagons like the libertys ect.

Who's to say that the 2WD Raptor won't be more than capable of filling the void left by the Falcon wagon? Ford are not stupid, they are not going to walk away from the large fleet sales the wagon gets.

NOw, they they wouldn't do something that stupid, would they? Well, we are talking about the same company that dropped the V8 years ago, and is still feeling the repercussions of...
Geoff, don't make a stupid choice and drop the wagon. Please.

younggun I have o disagree with you. Remember Ford has won the Telstra contract which means the wagon will be replaced with an SUV that at the very least will do the same job as the wagon did. As Funkypig says Ford are not stupid and I'm sure they know what they're doing.

Let's face it. The wagon really isn't a choice for the sports car fan. It's a prpose built vehicle so it may actually be a good idea to distance the Falcon name from cars such as station wagons and lean more towards the "luxury" and "sports" sedan image.

By the way, did you know that there will be no V8 wagon or a Fairmont Ghia wagon? The phasing out has already begun.

Removing the Fairmont wagon from the lineup is sheer stupidity.

Eventually removing the wagon from the lineup /full stop/ is complete lunacy.

Ford, dont drop the ball after having nearly run the length of the field...
