Question BA XR6 non-turbo

Have I missed something here - has n/a BA XR6 got the same power as XT or Fairmont? If so why would you buy one? Just for the quad lights and a spoiler kit?

This has already been discussed to death.

It does have the same amount of power yes. But it also has XR styling, interior and suspension which cannot be optioned on XT/Futura/Fairmont/any other vehicle, and is quite good as an cheap entry pointy into the XR range for those who maybe cannot stretch the budget to the XR6 Turbo or XR8, but still want to have a car from fords "spoirts" range, not to mention those who are trying to squeeze an XR in thru a fleet purchase.

IMO ford are on a good thing by releasing the n/a XR6 at such a low price, and good position within the market. And 182kw is nothing to sneeze at anyhow.

yes that's true, the diff in the xr6 na is 3:45 while 3:02 I think in the XT. That's why many people felt their XR6 AU tio be faster than the current futura, I don't think so for the XR6 BA as the diff makes alot of difference.

actually all non XRs and non fairmont ghias falcons use 3.23:1 now in AU they used a 3.08:1.ghias and XRs use 3.45:1 which is where they pick up their better times from.

not sure why BAs use 3.23:1 now maybe it was to help with the extra weight or maybe it was to move the 90kph harmonics out which AUs all sufferd from?
no doubt it wouldnt help the fuel consumption out much

I think the NA XR6 is a good buy, if you factor in how much insurance will cost for the turbo and the 6k price difference teh NA XR6 suddenly looks like a good deal.

I think you'll find the NA XR6 will sell very well.
