I think the barra Fairlane should be less of a pudgy luxo barge, and more a crisp/sharp looking (luxo barge). I dont mind the AU Fairlane at all, and think its much better looking than the Statesman, but I think it could use an injection of european/barra style. heres some preliminary photoshopping I did to T2 AU Fairlane to turn it into a Barra Fairlane, what does everyone think....

Good try kerazy but she still needs to be better in proportion as per the BA. For a Faiilane we are talking wider, fatter, lowerer and with more presence and sophistication.

I suspect that we will see a huge change in looks similar to when the EA equivelent Fairlaine (can't remember the model) went to the EF equivalent Fairlane.

I would be expecting a major change in looks.

I think it's fair to say that like the AU Fairlane, BA Fairlane will be called just that.

For what it is worth, the Fairlane is utterly dwarfed in terms of size by the WH.

Last week I saw a "Barra" Fairlane at the rear of the Ford factory in Broadmeadows, I think the seperate building atthe rear is for product develpment. The car was heavily disgiused under car bras however it obvoiusly has the same silhouette of the Falcon barra. Remember the new BA looks longer and lower than the AU and with the extra wheelbase the Fairlane just looks enormous, much the way the NF and NA cars did, except the bootline is a lot higher a per BA Falcon.

OK - HM2c's worth...

The NF-NL series is THE best damn looking Fairlane made, especially the Tickford modified ones. Anyone who owns, likes an E-series Falc, Fairmont, etc will know that when you lower these cars, they take on a new image - the NF-NL series Fairlane is the same. The AU does look better, but it is too square, slabby, and the lowered ride hide cannot hide that in anyway. While the AU was designed to appeal the traditional Fairlane owner, the NF-NL was a much more appealling car.

Given the BA's styling and market research, I'd suggest that the front treatment will be similar to the high series SWB, but with more chrome. The rear will be morphed with more curves and a simpler lighting theme to try to reduce that but ugly c-pillar!

Another aspect I'm really pieved about is that the new FPV has got no plans to release a LWB version of the BA!!! Dammit, why not!?!!?
