Smile The Best Band of ALL Time!

Considering the amount of discussion on the Forum has stagnated a bit, I've elected to canvass opinions as to the Best Band of ALL Time!

I've been playing the guitar since I was 8 and my biggest influences have been

Jimmy Page
Ace Frehley
Tony Iommi

So therefore I can't pick the Best Band, suffice to say that this honour goes to

Led Zeppelin
KISS
Black Sabbath.

For those that may suggest it
No I am not a bogan and;
I do not wear Flanno's

I prefer music made by people with instruments and I detest computer generated dance, hip hop, rap, gangsta etc etc etc.

PS The guitars are 1957 Gibson Black Beauty Custom;
1997 Gibson '57 Flying V reissue

Amps include a Line6 2 x 12 Stereo
MusicMan HD130
Marshall JCM800

my favorite all round band would have to be AC/DC

i really want a red Gibson SG but it will just have to wait till after i get a new car

needless to say i was influenced by Angus Young
but i enjoy any music that consists of a band.

Agreed.
Timeless music that I can still listen too, don't get sick of, and it's a real band playing instruments, singing....um ..wailing. :s3
There are others out there, but when the question's asked, AC/DC is the default answer.

growing up in england in the late 1970's and early 80's meant i was exposed to different music than you guys. i like most kinds of music, however, gangsta rap doesnt appeal, and neither does the full on metal (slipknot type stuff).

picking my favourite isnt easy, with bands like madness, the specials, depeche mode, new order all fetturing in my cd collection, with the likes of disco compliations (yeah...i know), ministry of sound dance compilations, 80's compliations, reggae and artists like elvis, lloyd cole, chris isaak and prince.

however, my number 1 favourite is....

OMD

top stuff. love everything they do and have loads of records and cd's. congratulations andy mcclusky, you made #1

I would not call myself a bogan rather a goth, maybe a punk when hairdos permit.

Slipknot is not full on metal it is call nu-metal its rather metal debauchery IMO. Real metal grew up in England and migrated to Amerika where it got bought up by big companies and got evenually commercialised and destroyed. Look at Metallica first a decent thrash metal band than to get more popular they release mainstream pussy metal.

the genre guide should clear some things up.

yes Bdave351 I have heard all the above especially Slayer (COF, MDB, Gorgorth, Squadron) atleast they have recently gone mainstream and they have not lost their ferocity. Im not really a fan of nearly all popular music largely due to its influence by big business and you see better gigs generally in pubs.

Great bands become icons i guess so many to choose from.
The only one that stands out in my head at the moment is INXS great for their time.
Hutchence would have to have had the best voice in this era
