Hey everybody, never had a panelo before. Looking to get one real soon. What do you reckon is the best panelo you could get for less than 10K. I was keen on an old Holden, Sandman or something like but I been told the old Holdens catch too much rust and the Ford XF or XD is the way to go. Any info, hints, tricks or tips would be real appreciated. Thanks one and all.

Actually the holden panel vans dont rust out as much as the utes do, alot of people use them to make utes out of them because they arnt rusted out in the back that bad. but go an XF panel van you dont see many of them done up.

Funny, I used to live in Melbs but have been enjoying the sun in Brisvegas for about a year now. Thanks for the advice though everyone, keep it commin.

Depends what you are after re "best", but you should find an XH pano for less than 10k in good nick (not outstanding), or easily an XG. The only drawback with these is no V8, and they are usually white if that matters...

If you must have a V8 you are looking at an XD or earlier Ford or Holden (unless someone has converted a later Falcon or there may be a few V8 XE's around). If you are looking at a Holden, go for an HZ or WB for the better RTS suspension geometry, it really is better. Unless you have a specific preference, go on the condition rather than what model it is.

Ive seen alot of XF/G panos with a bit of work and they look sweet. XH wouldn't be a huge step up from XG and they cost heaps more. So I say if you want a 6, get a XG, if you want an 8, XD allll the way.

Or you can go really old school and get an XB/C. I hardly ever see them but they sure do standout. Didn't ford have a sandman competitor>? Sundowner or something? Maybe that was the Valient version im not sure.

OR........get an escort Mr2 pano, I have a soft spot for them aswell.

mine would be a 75 XB GS 302 or 351, red with the black bonnet. why? coz thats what my dad used to own when i was little and it was an awesome van.
