Blackmail by Ford dealer

Got this letter today from Central Ford in Kilmore, regarding my 90,000 service

Good morning,

SERVICE REMINDER - Registration RQZ322

We have estimated by your mileage history that your vehicle may soon be due for service.

When you purchased your vehicle, we included a 36 month Mechanical Protection Plan. To maintain this coverage, your vehicle must be serviced only by our dealership according to your booklet.

In simple terms, we will repair the parts covered, if you have your vehicle serviced by us.

If your vehicle is still under Manufacturer's Cover, the car must be serviced by us, in accordance with the specifications set out in the owner's manual, at prevailing rates, until that warranty expires. After that, you will enjoy our six-month/10,000 km fixed price service plan at $198.00 including GST.

If your vehicle does require a service, please telephone our service department to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Regards,

I have had the service done at anouther ford dealer, because central ford ripped me off real bad with the last service I had done by them.
I have about 18 months to go on plan, so should I ring this Andrew turkey and tell him where to go, or put it all in a letter to him.

Re Service to RQZ-322

Thank you, for your letter reminding me about my 90,000 service, but I have had it done at Hunt & Lobb in Castlemaine.

The reason that I didn’t choose your company are many.

1/ After my last service that was performed by your company, I rang to find out why the labor cost was so high, for an “A” class service. The service department could not give me an answer, which I thought at the time was rather strange, so I rang back a week later to see if they had figured out the reason, and I was told that the gas converter had to be removed and cleaned, which I accepted, but after I hung up the phone I checked under the bonnet, and found that there was as much dirt and grime on the converter, as the rest of the engine bay.

After telling this to a mechanic friend, he confirmed, in his opinion, my suspicion that it had not been removed at all.

I feel that the answer that your staff gave me was a cover up for the high labor cost. But I could not prove anything, three weeks after the service was done.

2/ David xxxxx also told me when I got the car that it being an ex. Ford executive car, that it would have been straight, and not have been in any accidents, but quite a few things that I have noticed proves otherwise.
These being overspray on bonnet and guard, paint on headlight and the need for a camber kit to be fitted to one side of the vehicle.
I being a reasonably honest person, like to think that I’m dealing with honest people also, not people that lie and try to rip me off.

3/ Also on two of your service invoices, they had included “ Fuel Additive “, which cannot be added to a dedicated gas car.

So if it means loosing the the Mechanical Protection Plan, so be it

Yours truly,

Rob Elliott

Re: Blackmail by Ford dealer

Bet they dont....

You should ring the dealership after you know the letter has been recieved and ask to speak to the guy who wrote the letter to you. Then ask for a personal explanation.
