Well I met this scruffy looking bloke at the FPV opening day and went upto him as his display was sitting right next the the FF stand -Chris Bowden as it happened to be, many FF's should know about the Bowdens name.
To tell you the truth, carnt remeber what was he had there as I wasnt feeling to well, self induced...
Most of you may know that I actually bid at the auction as I thought it a good cause and good oportunity to see a legends collection, and take some snaps for ff too.
Chris saw that I had bid as high as $600 at the auction for the tour of the Bodwens camp and we got talking about my panned trip to Coolum later in April.
As Chris lives in Coolum and much arm twisting and promises of entertainment at the Coolum Hotel, of which my brother in law manages, Chris said "no big deal; I'll pick you up on the way to work one day and you can mooch around our property for a day. BUT.... As we are so security conscious, you are not allowed to video and only limited photos can be taken".
Must remeber to bring a bucket... cant be making a mess with drool everywhere.
Not to leave you guys out of the picture, would would any FF'ers like to see shots of the cars listed below, if so which ones? I can only post a max of 10 shots.
The Bowden's don't mind as they are in the shadows of ff, Chris even banged together the list to help me out.
Moffat's ATCC and Bathurst works GT Falcons, Phase 1, 2 and 3.
XA GTHO Phase 4.
John French, class winner and twice 2nd at Bathurst Wild Violet XY GTHO. John French, Beechey, Ford works XY GTHO (the only one to survive the 1971 season).
Every model of GT Falcon from XR, to EL.
1965 Mk1 Ford GT40.
Allan Moffat, Kar Kraft, 1969 Boss 302 Trans-Am Mustang.
Pete Geoghegan, GTHO, Superfalcon.
1966 Trans-Am Shelby Mustang.
2 x 1967 Trans-Am Shelby Mustangs.
1963 Mk1 AC Cobra. 1963 Falcon Sprint.
Pete Geoghegan '66 ATCC winning 1965 Mustang.
Clark, Stewart, Chapman and Moffat, 1964 Mk 1 Lotus Cortina.
Tony Longhurst Sierra Cosworth.
Dick Johnson Sierra Cosworth.
Len Lukey, Norm Beechey, Holman-Moody 1963 Galaxie.
A multitude of pre-1967 Falcons and pre-1969 Mustangs.
Plus a shagload more significant Ford's, Porsche's, Mercedes and.... ahem.... Holden's.
So Tell me guys, I have started a multiple choice poll, so go for it!
How about the cars we don't see all the time, like the French GTHO, the Lukey Galaxie, the Moffat Cortina, etc as many of the others are available on posters and have been in magazine articles so we know what they look like. I'd also leave 3-4 shots open to your discretion on the day.
Take some of all of em. Don't be a wuss, you're a big guy from what we here. Just threaten to sit on him if he won't let ya take what ya want! :)
