Bracks, your a DISGRACE. Resign NOW
Following on from the Victorian governments new road tax, i.e speed cameras, comes this little disgusting peice of news from the Herald Sun today.
8 speed cameras are to be installed on the Westgate Bridge, at a cost of 1.6million dollars.
Thats fine you say, its a freeway, its dangerous. Well heres the facts.
155,000 cars cross the bridge every day
In the past 5 years, there have been a 55 "incidents" on the West Gate Freeway. 2 requiring hospitalisation. Zero fatalities. There is no mention of the cause of any of these incidents.
So lets do a little bit of maths
155000cars x 365days x 5 years = 282,875,000 cars passing over the bridge in that 5 years. Yep thats 282 MILLION
55 incidents = one "incident" every 5,143,182 crossings, or the OUTRAGEOUS frequency of .00002 %
And thats bearing in mind they are "incidents" As I cross the bridge everyday, I can safely say, I have never seen a major accident.
Now Brackys, would you KINDLY explain how this area could POSSIBLY be perceived as dangerous, or an area where people are being irresponsible or are in some form of large danger??????
And more importantly why this area is worthy of speed cameras, while black spots remain untouched?
Well, I hate to be a cyncic, but I think I know the reason.
The Westgate Bridge has variable speed limits. And not just one, but 2. It can be posted as 80kph, 60kph, or 40kph. Which is all great, probably why there are so very few incidents on the bridge.
However, anyone having travelled the bridge will realise, its bloody big. And the decline is actually quite steep, and is a long distance. Now, seeing Victoria has no tolerance for cameras anymore, I guess Brackswood and his mates are rubbing there hands together, planning on how to spend the millions in speeding fines, from the poor suckers doing 43 in a 40 zone, on a very steep decline. I bet they just cant wait.
Meanwhile, real black spots get no funding. Pre driver education gets NO funding. Fatigue management gets no funding. RW checks gets no funding. But wow, the safest peice of road there is seemingly gets plenty.
Your a disgrace Bracks. Get out. And take your roads tax with you. And while your at it, please personally explain to the next person killed on any number of our region highways, just what a great job you have done protecting us from the evil Westgate Bridge.
