Brisbanites! would you help a fordforums member??

Hi peoples,

At the moment im looking down the barrel of a 6 month licence suspension (got busted for speeding 250km out of townsville while i was on a 2 point licence earlier this year :( ) im going to court on wednesday to appeal the suspension, but due to my driving history i dont think im going to win. (i have more speeding tickets than all my mates put togather i reckon!)

anyway, as you may or may not know, im a qualified "Automotive Technician" (read: mechanic) and obviously not having a licence will make getting to and from work hard (i live south of the city, i work on the northside), as well as a lot of diagnosis that involves driving cars (of course)

i was thinking about quitting work and working from home instead, for the period the suspension lasts for...so before i do quit, i need to know if i can find enough work to keep up car repayments etc.

basically, my question is:

would any of you brisbane people be willing to pay me to work on your car? i have already asked LunaticSVT about this, and offered to donate 10% of all my earnings to the site, he has no problems with my intentions.

im factory trained at holden from the start of my apprenticeship to now, and have been playing with fords since before then...because im working from home, i can't do anything that requires specialist equipment, such as wheel alignments, wheel balances and brake machining, but dont have problems with anything else...servicing, performance additions (my fave) lowering, etc.

so are you, or anyone you know looking for a tech thats going to give 110% every time he touches your car?

Re: Brisbanites! would you help a fordforums member??

I know it doesn't help you, but if I lost my licence I'd keep driving. But don't tell anyone!

Good luck mate. I hope you don't have to quit your job just for losing your licence! Isn't there anyone form your work that lives around your area? pay them for fuel to take you there. Or is it a prerequisite that you HAVE to have your full licence at your work. I know my work doesn't have a problem with it, you just can't drive cars.

Re: Brisbanites! would you help a fordforums member??

There are heaps of places near train lines or on bus routes. My little brother works for a brisbane Holden dealership, and they let him stay on without a licence. Have a chat to your boss.. What dealership are you at on the Northside?

And yeah.. may be interested in your services should the need arise. :)
