Question buy: BAXR8 Manual or T3 TE50 auto

the TE would be faster, but i love manuals. there arent any(many)manual TEs for sale in WA. each would cost about 55 large, with the TE being discounted, and the BA getting leather and 18s etc... not that i can really afford it but i can till look, right?

which car would you drool over more? (or seriously consider)

i'm guessing all of the below, so feel free to correct me.

TE pros-
extreme looks.
faster.
resale value/rarity.
able to upgrade stereo easily.
heaps of windsor.

BA pros-
better/smoother engine.
availability of manuals.
choice of stuff like colour and int.

TE cons-
fuel cost.. ole windsor drinks any block under the table.
harsh ride
cant get manual.

BA cons-
slower
common now(go the BA sales!!)
less resale value.
marginaly better fuel consumption.

In 12months time the xr8 are gonna be every where the cops will have them and they will be on the secondhand market by the hundreds, if you can get a TE50 manual get one but good luck!!

Re: buy: BAXR8 Manual or T3 TE50 auto

jmartion, i am contemplating this very choice at the moment. I am after an auto so i don't have the issue with the trans choice. You have listed pretty much the exact comparison's that i have been listing. I have never been an AU type of guy but i have to give it to the T3, they got it just right with this version of the AU.

Would luv to have the BA's SSS trans, dash in the T3 and possibly the boss's fuel consumption.
Im still driving an el 302 at the moment so i have a soft spot for the old windsor. But for around the same dollars either car would be great to own, i just think the T3 resale might be better and not sink like a boat anchor after three years of ownership like the BA xr8. Tuff decision when your talking about 50 grand.

The remaining TE50's are going around the 45k mark here in Melbourne, to save 10k, I think i'd pay the 100 dollar airfare and drive it back to Perth or pay for it to go on a Car Transporter!

I pity the poor ba$tard that has to make a decision like that, but I loathe the man that finally makes that decision.

Strapp Ford have some left still and Etheridge Ford have a few as well, Laminge also mentioned not too long ago that they were going around the 45k mark, I think he bought his TS50 from Bayside Ford?

Yeah i know it's sounds like i'm made of money but truth be known i'm not and if i had may head screwed on right i'd invest it or put it towards an investment property. The problem is i spend too much time on this site and other Ford dedicated forums, and this feeds my passion for the blue oval.

Even now there are many more BA XR's on the road compared to T series, a T3 is unique and you've gotta love that ground hugging bodykit!
