Buying car in US

Hello, i assume this is US forum right?

Can someone walk me trough buying used car what kind of taxes i will have to pay, should i change registration, plates anything else i need to know?

What are the biggest sites where i can brows cars for sale and prices in US, e.g. theres mobile.de - Deutschlands größter Fahrzeugmarkt. Suchen, kaufen oder verkaufen Sie Neu- und Gebrauchtwagen in germany is there any analog in US?

P.S. Also heard in US you cant sell your car to someone else unless you are car dealer is that true?

Re: Buying car in US

I.ve imported a car from U.S last year, and will soon get another one. What you must have is the title (pink slip) and a bill of sale stating the price you've paid. These are very important as customs needs to see them for evaluation. Ive bought car from private persons, no problem.
Check out Hemmings Motor News: Auto Classifieds - Hemmings Auto Classifieds feature cars for sale nation wide. Deals on Wheels Publications - Muscle Cars, Classic Cars, Used Cars, Auto Parts, Street Rods, Hot Rods, Customs, Car Parts, Exotic Cars, Trucks, Imports, Antique Cars, Classifieds and more! The Buy, Sell, Trade publication.
Most brandrelated sites, as this ford forum, has a sales forum.
Some sellers are biased to sell to foreigners from outside U.S for some reasons, and asks for references. I've never bought anything from people who can't accept my cash money without asking for references.
For freight use a broker who can assist you all the way to home.
Good luck.
