It's about time, most speed camera's in Melbourne are being turned off until they're all fixed. I think I'll dispute all my speeding fines.. not that I've got many.. no really only a couple.. OK I have a couple of points left.
at least a visible police presence makes a difference. sticking a camera behind a bush does piss all except raise revenue. and the government arent interested in saving lives...

Good point! A visable police presence deters more then just speeding, people are less likely to drive like retreads if they see police on the roads...

Just a note fella's.
They are NOT turning off the cameras, they are just having a look at EVERY camera to see if it is faulty.
They will still take pics but the fines may not arrive for some time.
Dont be fooled that you wont get caught as you will.
Cheers

The question needs to be asked, how many have lost their licence and or job, because of those faulty cameras ? How many have paid a fine when they weren't speeding ?
I smell law suits ,lots of law suits ! Bring them on !!!
Now, maybe the cops will use the revenue cameras as intended. NOT as revenue raisers.
