Re: C6 Z06 unveiled
I really wouldn't want a GT. QC problems on Ford's FLAGSHIP SPEED CAR? That screams hidden problems to me. Plus, with a slight decrease in compression, and the addition of a turbo (still places the C6 Z06 well under a GT) the Z would RAPE the GT in the 1/4. What would be more interesting is to see how both of these cars perform in an AutoX - where they are designed to really excel. With professional drivers (not the magazine retards) I think there would be some interesting results.
As far as the Viper havin more stret credibility, I've driven a Shelby (unimpressive, but evidently it's built ONLY for the track, it only runs a 13.3 with a professional driver - sad, sad), and seen a few GTS cars on the interstate around here. Not a single one would race. In my opinion, most Viper owners are rich bastards who think because the Viper is expensive, and somewhat rare, it must be a good car. Ignore all the problems associated with taking a track car and bastardizing it for the street.
Someone who can afford a GT isn't likely going to worry about resale value - that's like saying someone bought a Diablo as an investment for the future. Most owners of these types of cars hardly ever drive them, have hired people to wash and maintain the cars, and probably can only tell you what the Ford rep who sold the car told them: engine size, estimated 1/4 speed, ect ect.
