C6 Z06 unveiled

Well, all those Ford GTs (least the ones that are back from the recalls) need to watch out. Mid 11s at 12x mph, and better with good tires, are what the new Z car is bringing to the street. Much more affordable too. The Viper has been relegated to 3rd place...and Dodge has said they'll be stepping up. Who doesn't love horsepower wars?

Mmm, both very nice but I'll take the GT still. Nothing like a blown Ford V8. The Ford GT is an instant collector item. I would think the Vipers got more street cred that the Vette, but I'm not from the US so don't know the culture there.

Of course if we really want to get serious what about the new Saleen with 0-60m/ph in 2.8 sec and 10's down the shoot.

The GT(40) is overpriced in my opinion. Very nice car but for 1/3 - 1/4 the price I can go just as fast in the z06 or Viper. The GT(40 only does the 1/4 in 12.2 if i recall right. Not much faster than my cobra in stock form.

Depends on who you talk to. Some will say the viper is an exotic out of the league of the vette. Then there are those that say the vette is an american classic that can not be touched by any others. All depends on who you like to talk to.

Yeah and even more expensive than the gt(40), but in honesty I would rather have a Koenigsegg CCR

The Saleen S7 has the following specs

At those costs I would just pay the extra bit for the Koenigsegg CCR :)

Road and track tested it out and got the following results.

Our radar gun clocks the Ford GT's 0-60-mph time at 3.8 seconds, and the quarter-mile sprint at 12.2 sec. with the speedometer indicating 121.6 mph.

AutoWeek does not have an official time but it is listing it at barely under 12 seconds with no mph.

I will take official track times with a non shoddy driver. It may well do under 12 seconds, but for the price they are commanding here in the states I would rather pick up one of the other two I listed.

Ford GT vs Viper

FordGT 11.78 for vs Viper 11.77 = nothing in it.

Viper s alot cheaper as John said, but when you look at the two in the article the GT is just that much better IMO. Sounds like the Vette, Viper and Ford GT are all similar in pace so it comes down to value for money. I agree that the Ford is very pricey upfront but I think it will hold it's value better in the longer term. Basically as I said... one for the collector.

Hey how about we buy the Ford GT for the weekend and take the Vette to work each day? (I wish).
